Exploring a Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered plenty of interesting indie games. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a hero that is literally a turd trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: just use a single jump button. Throughout numerous stages, you'll face boss fights and unlock a shop to purchase customizations for your poop character.

Plan your jumps precisely, since one wrong move means beginning again. Leap on bubbles to propel the poop upward, traverse crumbling platforms, and touch buttons to open new areas. Collect currency to purchase tougher stages where the action intensifies.

In terms of design, the demo shows off vibrant environments and an amazing soundtrack. The simple graphics of morphing abstract forms may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to name similar titles where you are a coiled turd, gaming often included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft throwables from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as plant food. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available at present on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on Steam on November 19.
