President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the brutal beheading of a motel manager of Indian descent hotel manager in Dallas recently.

"The time for being soft on these undocumented criminals is ENDED under my administration," he emphasized in a post on his social media account.

Background of the Tragic Incident

Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, 50, was allegedly assaulted with a bladed weapon by his co-worker Yordanis Cobos-Martinez in front of his wife and child after a heated argument over a broken washing machine.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who is now in jail, has been accused of first-degree murder.

The President’s Reaction

Trump promised that the accused "will face justice to the maximum of the law" and will be "charged with murder in the first degree."

He also criticized the current administration, claiming that Mr Cobos-Martinez had been earlier detained for multiple crimes, including alleged child abuse, but was "released back into society because Cuba refused to accept his return."

Legal Status of the Accused

As per federal records, the suspect is an undocumented immigrant with a deportation order of removal from the US.

He was allegedly in detention at a facility in Dallas but was freed on an monitoring order in early this year after Cuba "refused to accept him due to his record."

Victim’s Life

Nagamallaiah, who originated from the southern Indian state of Karnataka, worked at the a local motel in Dallas.

He attended educational institutions in Bangalore, southern India, before moving to the US in 2018. His son recently graduated secondary school and is preparing to begin university.

Details of the Incident

The violent incident took place on 10 September. Police received a "stabbing call" and determined through preliminary findings that the suspect had cut the victim multiple times with an blade.

ICE has lodged a detainer on Mr Cobos-Martinez at the local jail, where he is currently in detention.

Aftermath

The victim’s funeral were conducted on 13 September in Flower Mound, attended by family and friends.

A donation drive initiated to aid his loved ones has raised more than $321,000 to date.
